Sexual Harassment Complaint Filed Against Macon Occupational Medicine
July 23, 2014
On Monday, July 21, 2014, Parks, Chesin & Walbert, P.C. filed a lawsuit on behalf of Paula Wallace against her former employer, Macon Occupational Medicine, LLC (“MOM”). The Complaint asserts claims against MOM and Leonard Bevill, its owner and CEO, for sexual harassment and related claims.
During the time Ms. Wallace worked at MOM, she was regularly harassed by Mr. Bevill. The Complaint contends Mr. Bevill requested that Ms. Wallace engage in sexual acts with him and that Mr. Bevill tried to kiss Ms. Wallace and touch her breasts and buttocks. Ms. Wallace contends that after she rejected Mr. Bevill’s advances, she was fired. She further contends that MOM’s management team did nothing to prevent the harassment, despite having knowledge of Mr. Bevill’s serious misconduct, both towards Ms. Wallace and other female employees. Attorney Jenn Coalson provided the following statement: “Ms. Wallace is coming forward to make public what happened to her, both to recover compensation for the financial and emotional damages she has suffered and to ensure that other employees of MOM are not subjected to the same behavior in the future.” Also representing Ms. Wallace are partner Andrew Coffman and associate Sachi Cole.
