Disability Discrimination (ADA and Rehabilitation Act)

In the area of disability law, Parks, Chesin & Walbert has represented hundreds of disabled plaintiffs who suffered discrimination in the workplace.  PCW initiated a class action on behalf of a certified statewide class of all deaf Georgia citizens suffering a mental disability who were in need of public funded medical/psychiatric care. The litigation led to a favorable decision in the District Court entered by the Honorable Richard Story in 2013. A negotiated 5-year remedial plan was entered which required the State to provide the class members health care providers proficient in American Sign Language so they could communicate with their patients in the diagnostic and treatment phases of providing medical and mental health care.
